Pool's my life!
Tuesday, 14th February 2006, Valentine's Day
Today was intended to be the most boring day of my life because I didn’t intend on going out at all because I spent so much yesterday until I was really feeling so guilty. Well… all of you know that I had a CG outing yesterday and I had spent on movie, pool, food, etc. Today I was intending to stay at home and surf the net, study my JC biology (which is so damned difficult) or at least do my long overdue math tutorial 1.1. That didn’t happen because of some interruption in my original plan: I had ear infection (temporary a bit deaf on my left ear), had to collect my long overdue spectacles, Edmund called me to inform me that there will be some sort of 4SA gathering to pizza hut, Toa Payoh tonight and my hands were itchy for a game of pool.
Hence, I decided to call my few best friends to tag along with me to play pool: I telephoned Sabree and he once once once again rejected my invitation. Yann kiat too refused to tag along because he was suffering from severe neck or back pain due to his bad sleeping position (as what he claims) and that he can’t walk properly without bending to one side. Haha… what rubbish. Only Weili stood up to my invitation. Well… it’s kind of weird for two guys to go out during Valentine’s Day right? So, I called along Brandon, Edmund and Malcolm.
I left home at about 2 pm and took MRT to Hougang Mall to collect my spectacles, then proceeding to Ban Kok clinic at Potong Pasir to see a doctor. Finally, went on to Dhoby Ghaut station to meet my pals there. Edmund’s already there when I reached there. Malcolm came second and well… needless to say, Weili’s last. Brandon’s not really in the picture because he was watching a movie and couldn’t meet us in time. So, the four of us took a stroll to Paradiz Centre for pools. Along the way, we talked about the dinner tonight and about how Malcolm feels after not getting top in SAS although he was for 3.5 years. So sad…
We bought some drinks at 7 eleven first before going for pools. The place stinks of tobacco, but I couldn’t care less! My mind was already flooded with images of the pool table, the cuestick, the cueballs and the list relating to the game goes on… Actually wanted to call Charlie along but CJC was like so ‘on’ and they are like having lessons till 4! So, he said he didn’t want to join us. So, we managed to play 4 games in about an hour. Weili and I versus Edmund and Malcolm. The result: 2-2… a draw! Haha… what a game! And its like $8.70 for all that fun, which works out to $2.20 per person only!
Then we proceeded to Pizza Hut Toa Payoh by train. We met up with Brandon and we strolled to Pizza Hut together. By the time we are at Pizza Hut, Yong Hui, Tong Liang and Mrs Loke was already there. Anyway, the dinner was great, although only about 12 turned up: Yong Hui, Tong Liang, Weili, Edumund, Malcolm, Yi Jie, Wei Jian, Joel, Brandon, Choon Kiat, Iven and I. The whole dinner costs about $146. Mrs. Loke insisted on paying, but all of us started talking rubbish (especially me), saying ‘you deserved credit for our distinctions in mathematics’ and ‘let us show our gratitude to our teacher’. Haha… I couldn’t believe I actually said those! Well… never mind…
All of us took money out of our wallets and passed them to Mrs. Loke. She wanted to ‘compromise’ but all of them started running away from the restaurant, with me cramped in that small corner of the restaurant! Mrs. Loke was like blocking my only path for escape! Eyes from around the restaurant were peering curiously at us. I couldn’t take the money but I don’t want to attract attention either. Hence, before I knew it, $65 was in my hands. We exited Pizza Hut and everyone was like giving me the kind of ‘Why you take the money’ look.
I had to save myself of all embarrassment. Firstly, I didn’t show any enthusiasm in paying for the dinner when I initially had the money in my hands when Mrs. Loke was paying for the meal. Secondly, I took the money! I HAD to DO SOMETHING! Then, I saw her handbag! Using my professional instincts as a pickpocket, I slipped my hands into her handbag and stuffed the money in there! (sense the irony in this sentence!) Then all of us took flight! Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!
It’s so unforgettable! 12 boys from the ex-4SA running down the street of Toa Payoh Central, leading to the HDB Hub! What’s more is that we have an elderly teacher chasing behind us, and offering money into our hands! Haha… running away from money! After that short run of less than a kilometer, we finally knocked some sense into her: that she shouldn’t pay for the dinner! She said ‘thanks’ to all of us and BYE BYE!
We then proceeded to play pools (again!) at some ‘entertainment centre’ (as what someone claims) and some how or rather we went to the entertainment centre with the eng wah cinemas and we found out that it’s the wrong place. -_- AND that ‘someone’ then pointed out it’s the ‘entertainment centre’ near the national library!
On the way walking there, we talked about Yong Hui’s ‘girlfriend’ and that she’s a combination of tweety bird + bugs bunny. (I swear I didn’t say that). Haha… that’s so funny. I didn’t realize it although that person is in my class.
Well… played pools for about an hour and everyone started leaving at about 10. For the past hour, I was like so lucky! I was like playing so well although I only officially started playing yesterday. Haha… but things were different for Weili. He was playing well this afternoon, but I don’t know what got into him and he was like ‘making everyone laugh’. The cue never went where he wanted them to go and people like Tong Liang, Malcolm, Choon Kiat and Edmund was laughing their balls off. Anyway, Weili paid $8.80 for the game and all went home. Yawn… it has been and great day, mainly because of pools!
(P.S. this is a 1076 words recount of today, probably my longest one ever. And I am sure that this one is in better English. Do you like it better this way? Better English? Comments please?)
